Strategic interaction and imitation dynamic in patch differentiated exploitation of fisheries

چکیده
In this paper we propose a discrete-time dynamic model for studying the time evolution of fish stocks in an aquatic environment divided into two adjacent patches. Each area is characterized by a different fishing policy: an imposed constant fishing effort in a patch and oligopolistic competition in the other one, where fishermen are free to decide their harvesting on the basis of “boundedly rational” choices. Moreover, given the total number of fishermen, we propose an evolutionary approach, namely an adaptive switching, based on imitation dynamics, that endogenously regulates the fraction of fishermen that, at each time period, decide to operate in one of the two regions on the basis of past profits. The aim of this work is to fully specify the four-dimensional discrete time model, whose complete analysis will be carried out in a future paper. [email protected] University of Urbino Via A. Strategic interaction and imitation dynamics in patch differentiated exploitation of fisheries
In this paper we propose a discrete-time dynamic model for studying the time evolution of fish stocks in an aquatic environment divided into two adjacent patches, one characterized by an imposed constant fishing effort and another one where fishermen are free to decide the quantity to harvest according to oligopolistic competition taking into account economic and biologic externalities. Given t...
متن کاملExploration and Exploitation in Parallel Problem Solving: Effect of Imitation Strategy and Network Structure
In previous studies on coordinating exploration-exploitation activities, much attention has been paid on network structures while the roles played by actors’ strategic behavior have been largely ignored. In this paper, the authors extend March’s simulation model on parallel problem solving by adding structurally equivalent imitation. In this way, one can examine how the interaction of network s...
متن کاملRelationship between white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) loads and characterizations of water quality in Litopenaeus vannamei culture ponds during the tropical storm
An in-situ experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of tropical storm on the white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) loads in Litopenaeus vannamei rearing ponds. White spot syndrome virus loads, heterotrophic bacteria, Vibrio and water quality (including temperature, dissolved oxygen (DO), salinity, pH, NH4-N, and NO2-N) were continually monitored through one tropical storm. The WSSV loads d...
متن کاملA Bioeconomic Model of Marine Reserve Creation
This paper employs a dynamic and spatial model of renewable resource exploitation to investigate the effects of marine reserve creation. The model combines a metapopulation model incorporating resource patch heterogeneity and dispersal with a behaviorally based spatially explicit harvesting model that assumes that fishermen choose location in a manner that eliminates spatial arbitrage opportuni...

The population parameters of Malabar trevally (Carangoides malabaricus) were studied in the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea from December 2016 to November 2017. 1030 specimens were collected. The fork length ranged from 14 to 34 cm, with average 25.60±3.52 cm. The total weight ranged from 60.4 to 534.5 g, with average 329.03±113.46 g. The asymptotic length (L∞) and growth coefficient (K) were 37 cm a...
